1930’s Bijou Manual Typewriter – Black – New Ribbon & Case – Paper Feed Problem
Bijou Model 5 I believe, vintage, manual portable typewriter in London, UK. After some research on the serial code, I concluded that it was produced in the early to mid 1930’s. The comfortable keys are responsive and it provides customisable functions for comfortable typing. The backspace, carriage return lever, the bell, the shift keys, carriage lock, margin setters, ribbon selector (for the colour change), the carriage release lever, the paper guide and the paper release lever all work as intended. This German made typewriter is fitted with a new ribbon so you can type as soon as you get it and without any hassle. Also comes with the original case which has a comfortable handle.
The overall condition is good. The keys type well and it works well apart from the paper feed issue which is described below. Minor signs of use and age are present.
Please note that this typewriter has a paper feed problem – when you try to feed the paper, the rollers do not grip it well. As a result, you need to release the carriage and feed the paper through manually, not automatically with the carriage knob on the side. Once the paper is in, it works marvellously!
The vintage Bijou typewriter would be ideal for writers and authors, especially in the creative field. It will also be a unique gift. Due to the style and the aesthetics of the Bijou typewriter, it can be used for display purposes like home decor and events such as exhibitions and weddings. It appeals to all generations.
The vintage Bijou Model 5 typewriter is located in London, UK.
