1930’s Working Royal Manual Typewriter – New Ribbon, Case – Black – Made In USA – Specially adapted for use in mathematics and science
Working Royal vintage, manual portable typewriter in London, UK. After some research on the serial code, I concluded that it was manufactured in the late 1930’s. Despite being almost eighty years old, the machine works very well! The comfortable glass keys in metal rims are responsive and due to the touch control, comfortable and enjoyable typing most certainly can be achieved. The backspace, carriage return lever, the bell, the shift keys, margin setters, ribbon colour switch, the carriage release lever, the paper guide and the paper release lever all work as intended. This American made typewriter is fitted with a new black ribbon so you can type as soon as you get it, without any hassle. Also comes with the original case which has a comfortable handle.
This particular typewriter was hand adapted to be used in the mathematical or scientific field. The keys were changed from the classic design into the keys with degrees from 0 to 9 plus the square root sign and the symbol π. Please refer to the photos.
The overall condition is excellent. All of the keys work as expected. Minor signs of use and age are present.
This intriguing and mathematically sophisticated machine would be ideal for writers and authors, especially in the mathematical or scientific field. It will also be a unique gift. Due to the style and the aesthetics of the black Royal typewriter, it can be used for display purposes like home decor and events such as exhibitions and weddings. It appeals to all generations.
