1940’s Working Imperial The Good Companion Model T Typewriter – New Ribbon, Case, Instruction Book – Made in England – Cork Platen
Working Imperial The Good Companion Model T vintage, manual portable typewriter in London, UK. After some research on the serial code, I concluded that it was produced in the 1940’s. Regardless of such old age, the Imperial black machine works very well! The comfortable keys are responsive and it provides custom-made functions for comfortable typing. The backspace, carriage return lever, the bell, the shift keys, carriage lock, margin setters, ribbon selector (for the colour change), the carriage release lever, the paper guide and the paper release lever all work as intended. This British made typewriter is fitted with a new black ribbon so you can type as soon as you get it and without any hassle. Also comes with the original case and the instruction book.
Please note that this Imperial model has a cork platen, which is less common to come across. It was believed that cork platens were more durable than rubber.
The overall condition is good. All letter keys work well without sticking. Minor signs of use and age are present.
The Good Companion Model T typewriter would be ideal for writers and authors, especially in the creative field. It will also be a unique gift. Due to the style and the aesthetics of the black Imperial typewriter, it can be used for display purposes like home decor and events such as exhibitions and weddings. It appeals to all generations.
