1949 Working Royal Quiet De Luxe Manual Typewriter – New Ribbon, US Made – Grey – Rare Shift Key

Working Royal Quiet De Luxe vintage, manual portable typewriter in London, UK. After some research on the serial code, I concluded that it was produced in 1949. Regardless of such old age, the machine works very well! The comfortable “tombstone design” keys are responsive and it provides customisable functions for comfortable typing. The backspace, carriage return lever, the bell, the shift keys, margin setters, ribbon selector (for the colour change), the carriage release lever, the paper guide and the paper release lever all work as intended. This American made typewriter is fitted with a new ribbon so you can type as soon as you get it and without any hassle.

Please note that this typewriter does not have the original case but will be packed well if ordered via shipping.

This particular model has an interesting bottom right shift key, it reads – “Hollywood Office & Appliance Co – Royal Representatives”. It seems that it was purchased in the US (as there is no £ sign) and brought to the UK.

The overall condition is excellent. All of the keys work without sticking and the grey Royal model functions well! Minor marks on the body and other signs of use and age are present.

This intriguing word processor would be ideal for writers and authors, especially in the creative field. It will also be a unique gift. Due to the style and the aesthetics of the Royal typewriter, it can be used for display purposes like home decor and events such as exhibitions and weddings. It appeals to all generations.

The mid-century Royal Quiet De Luxe typewriter is located in London, UK.
