1950’s Working Olympia SM2 Portable Typewriter – 2 special signs- New Ribbon, Case – Burgundy – Made in Western Germany
Fully working Olympia SM2 vintage, manual portable typewriter in London, UK. After some research on the serial code, I concluded that it was produced during the late 1950’s. Regardless of such old age, the German made machine works very well! The comfortable keys are responsive and a touch-control lever is fitted to allow for adjustment of response from keys to achieve satisfying typing. The backspace, carriage return lever, the bell, the shift keys, carriage lock, margin setters, ribbon colour switch, the carriage release lever, the paper guide and the paper release lever all work as intended. This sturdy Olympia typewriter is fitted with a new ribbon so you can type as soon as you get it, without any hassle. Also comes with the original case which has a comfortable handle.
There are two keys with special signs (right hand side). Please refer to the photos.
The overall condition is good. It types well and it is generally clean. Minor cosmetic signs of use and age are present on the typewriter and case. Please note that the carriage knob is damaged, but this does not affect the typewriter performance. Please refer to the photos.
The retro typewriter would be ideal for writers and authors, especially in the creative field. It will also be a unique gift. Due to the style and the aesthetics of the Olympia SM2 typewriter, it can be used for display purposes like home decor and events such as exhibitions and weddings. It would most likely appeal to typists of older generations, with some experience in using typewriters.
The Olympia SM2 vintage typewriter is located in London, UK.
