Working 1970s Olympia Monica Typewriter – Original Red Keys – New Ribbon, Case – Made in UK
The world of typewriters still amazes us when we come across a previously unseen model, like this 1979 Olympia Monica typewriter with its original red keys and other features.
The Olympia Monica model originated in Western Germany. However, it is surprising and rare that this particular machine was made in the UK.
Compared to previous Olympia models, the Olympia Monica evolved through some transformation, such as the light and extremely comfortable keys, a hard plastic body and wide lever knobs for better grip.
The Olympia Monica works very well as it has displays the high standards of German engineering. A new black ribbon is installed and the typist can start typing straight after the machine is delivered. It comes with an original red case.
Overall condition is very good. The Olympia Monica operates very well. Minor signs of age and use are present. Please note that the primary colour of the top part of the typewriter was white. However, as it was most likely exposed to the sunlight, the typewriter has some yellowing – please refer to photos. Also, the paper support is missing.
If you are looking for a ‘wow’ typewriter, the Olympia Monica is the right one. The combination of design, colours and remarkably light keys would appeal to all generations of typists, with or without any previous typing experience
The Olympia Monica typewriter is located in London (U.K.).
