The world of typewriters still surprises us when we come across a rare beauty such as this late 1930s Imperial, The Good Companion Model T typewriter.

This English made Imperial gained the second part of its title ‘The Good Companion’ with the permission of the famous English novelist J.B. Priestley who, by then had published his book ‘The Good Companions’ which became a best seller. Later, the Imperial typewriter, received the ‘By Royal Appointment’ insignia and was widely used in the royal household, consequently it became popular amongst the general public.

The Imperial Good Companion Model T offered for sale is in remarkably good condition. All of the mechanisms work very well and the keys type sharply, giving the user confidence in use. At the end of each line there is a strong sound from the bell, letting the typist know it’s time to move to the next line.

This typewriter looks cosmetically neat with minimum signs of age and use. All the chroming is preserved in original condition. The keys are protected with glass and metal rims.

The Imperial comes with a new black ink ribbon and is ready for action. The original case with a leather handle is provided.

The Imperial Good Companion Model T is an excellent example of British manufacturing in its heyday and would be a good addition to any office setup, providing inspiration and encouraging creativity. This typewriter would suit writers, journalists and other professionals. It would also make a central talking point at any thematic event, wedding or exhibition.
