Exquisite And Rare 1950s Swissa Piccola Typewriter – Danish/English Keys – New Ribbon, Case – Made In Switzerland
Working rare Swissa Piccola manual portable typewriter in London (U.K.). This exquisite typewriter is designed for Danish speaking typists. The Swissa Piccola can be used to write in English, as there is no difference in the position of the letter keys – same for both languages. The country of manufacture is Switzerland and the model was manufactured by Birchmeier’s Sons, the Swiss manufacturer, between 1950 and 1958.
The machine is beautifully preserved considering its age. The concave keys are still like new and work impeccably. There is very little effort required from the typist to strike the keys as they are easy and responsive. All the mechanisms function as intended. This well-made typewriter is fitted with a new black ribbon so you can start to type as soon as you get it, without any inconvenience. It has a ribbon colour switch, so the typist can use a ribbon of two colours, usually black and red, at the same time. Also comes with the original case which has a comfortable handle.
The overall condition is excellent. Minor signs of age and use are present.
The Swissa Piccola comes with the Swissa Garantie certificate to validate the outstanding quality of the Swiss manufacturing. The Birchmeier’s Sons, with an embossed, attached seal of quality.
The typewriter would suit a typist of any profession or age, regardless of typing skills. This is an eye-catching machine and would be a center-piece of any thematic event, wedding or exhibition. Any connoisseur would appreciate such a rare and unique gift for a birthday.
