Pre-WW2 Working Continental Portable – New Ribbon, Case – German Made – Tab Function
Working Continental vintage, manual portable typewriter in London, UK. After some research on the serial code, I concluded that it was produced in the late 1930’s, a pre-WW2 model. Regardless of such old age, the German made machine works very well! The comfortable glass keys are responsive and it provides customisable functions for comfortable typing. The backspace, the bell, the shift keys, margin setters, ribbon selector (for the colour change), the carriage release lever and the paper release lever all work as intended. This stunning typewriter is fitted with a new ribbon so you can type as soon as you get it and without any hassle. Also comes with the original case.
This particular model has a tab function, which isn’t so common on this brand of typewriters. It also comes with the original metal spools – these are no longer produced.
The overall condition is good! The Continental functions as expected and minor signs of use and age are present. Please note that even after a service, some keys function in an odd way and do not print on the paper well – please refer to the type specimen.
The black Continental typewriter would be ideal for writers and authors, especially in the creative field. It will also be a unique gift. Due to the style and the aesthetics of the 1930’s Continental typewriter, it can be used for display purposes like home decor and events such as exhibitions and weddings. It appeals to all generations.
The vintage Continental typewriter is located in London, UK.
