Rare 1939 Bar-Lock Portable Typewriter – New Ribbon, Case – Made in Nottingham, England
London Typewriters is offering for sale a unique 1939 Bar-Lock portable typewriter. The Bar-Lock was manufactured by the Royal Bar-Lock company in Nottingham, England.
This typewriter is cosmetically well preserved considering its age. The mechanisms are in good working order and the keys operate smoothly, providing the typist with an enjoyable experience when typing. The keys are protected with glass and the unblemished chroming matches well with the glossy black finish of the typewriter.
The Bar-Lock has a new black ribbon installed and it is ready for immediate use. As the typewriter is portable, a case is provided which has a sturdy handle.
The overall condition is good. Minor signs of age and use are present. Please note that only a ribbon of one colour can be used at a time, as the model is not designed for two (usually black/red) colour ribbon use.
This stylish Bar-Lock has a flat profile and would make an eye-catching centerpiece at any thematic event, exhibition, wedding or on a professional’s desk. It would be a valuable addition to the collection of a typewriter enthusiast.
The Bar-Lock is located in London (U.K.).
