Rare Late 1930s Bar-Let Model 2 Portable Typewriter – New Ribbon, Case – Made in Nottingham, England
London Typewriters is offering for sale a unique late 1930s Bar-Let Model 2 portable typewriter. The Bar-Let was manufactured by the Royal Bar-Lock company in Nottingham, England.
This typewriter is well preserved considering its age. The mechanisms are in good working order and the keys operate smoothly, providing the typist with an enjoyable experience when typing. The keys are protected with glass and the unblemished chroming matches well with the black glossy finish of the typewriter.
The Bar-Let has a new black ribbon installed and it is ready for immediate use. As the typewriter is portable, a case is provided which has a sturdy handle.
The overall condition is good. Minor signs of age and use are present. Please refer to the photos. Please note that only a ribbon of one colour can be used at a time as the model is not designed for two (usually black/red) colour ribbon use.
This elegant petite Bar-Let would be an eye-catching centre piece at any thematic event, exhibition, wedding or on a professional’s desk. It would be a valuable addition to the collection of a typewriter enthusiast.
The Bar-Let Model 2 is located in London (U.K.).
