Rare Working 1900’s Royal Standard Manual Typewriter – New Ribbon, Original Spools – Excellent Condition
An early model of the Royal Standard typewriter series. The serial number indicates it was produced between 1906 and 1910, before the more popular model 5 came into production.
Regardless of the Royal typewriter being over 100 years of age, the machine functions well! The carriage return lever, the bell, the shift keys, margin setters, the carriage release lever, the paper guide and the paper release lever all work as intended. The rubber platen still grips the paper and did not harden as many typewriters of this age normally would.
It is rare to find a typewriter of such vintage in such excellent condition. The keys work as intended and only few stick at times. There is minimal rust and after some oiling, the key action is magnificent. There are some signs of use and age, though that is expected for something as old as this Royal. One of the rubber feet has been replaced with a substitute.
The Royal Standard comes with the original metal spools and we have installed a new ribbon on them so the typewriter is ready to go straight out of the box.
Please note that this typewriter does not have a case and it will be heavily packaged if it needs to be shipped.
