Working 1920’s Royal Typewriter – New Ribbon, Original Spools – Stationary/Office Model – Made in USA
Working Royal Office typewriter in London, UK. After some research on the serial code, I concluded that it was manufactured in the 1920’s, USA. Regardless of such old age, the Royal machine works well! The comfortable keys are light and smooth when typing and it makes the whole process effortless and enjoyable. The backspace, carriage return lever, the bell, the shift keys, margin setters, ribbon selector (for the colour change), the carriage release lever, the paper guide and the paper release lever all work as intended. The Royal typewriter is fitted with a new black ribbon and it is ready for immediate action. It also comes with the original metal spools.
This machine has a single toned removable panel on each side for easy access to the mechanism and is also a design feature.
Please note that this is a stationary/office typewriter so it is heavier than the portable models – the weight is around 13kg. Shipping can be arranged.
The mechanics of the typewriter are good. All letter keys work well without sticking. Please note that the chroming was affected by the lack of proper maintenance in the past. Therefore the chroming of the levers and panels at the sides and at the back look threadbare.
The Royal Office typewriter is suitable for writers and journalists. As it is solidly built, it would be appropriate for typing long projects. It would also look nice as a center-piece in a office.
The vintage Royal typewriter is located in London, UK.
