Working 1931 Remington Portable Typewriter – New Ribbon, Case – New Platen – Made in USA

Working vintage Remington Portable manual typewriter in London (U.K.).

According to the serial code, we established that the typewriter parts were manufactured in 1931, during the Great American Depression, in USA.

Taking into account such a milestone, this typewriter has preserved all its functions and, also looks cosmetically almost neat. The solid metal rim keys are strong and comfortable and it provides a sense of stability and sturdiness to the typist.

This USA made typewriter is fitted with a new black ribbon and it is ready for action. Also comes with the original case which has a comfortable hand-made handle.

The machine received a new platen (the rubber coating around the cylinder). The old rubber hardened and was professionally replaced with brand new rubber, so typing on this classic machine is now smoother and quieter, resulting in improved print quality on paper.

This ninety four years old typewriter is in good working order. Minor signs of age and use are present – please refer to photos.
