London Typewriters are delighted to offer for sale a fully refurbished Blue Bird typewriter.

In the 1950s, Blue Bird typewriters had ‘Made in Western Germany’ stamped on them. Yet this particular model has ‘Made in Germany. US Zone’ stamped on it, which is a quite unusual and striking detail, so it represents a unique moment in the history of the Cold War.

You could say this model represents a piece of history. It is very well preserved, cosmetically and mechanically. It retains all its functions and works very well! The keys are comfortable and sturdy. All the mechanisms work as intended. The chroming of the details is still untouched with the time.

This reliable and robust German typewriter is fitted with a new black ribbon so it is ready for immediate use. Also comes with the original case which has a comfortable handle.

The overall condition is very good and the Blue Bird works very well. Minor signs of use and age are present, particularly on the case – please refer to photos.
