Working 1958 Oliver Courier Typewriter – New Ribbon, Case – Made In England
Rare Oliver Courier typewriter in London (U.K.).
The typewriter was made in 1958, in England and it is one of the last models manufactured by the Oliver brand.
Taking into account the typewriter is sixty years old, it works well apart from the back space. The comfortable keys are extremely light and it provides a satisfying touch for the whole process of typing.
The carriage return lever, the shift keys, carriage lock, margin setters, ribbon selector (for the colour change), the carriage release lever, the paper guide and the paper release lever all work as intended. The typewriter is fitted with a new black ribbon so you can type as soon as you get it and without any inconvenience. Also comes with the original case which has a comfortable handle.
The overall condition is good. All the keys type smoothly. Minor signs of use and age are present. Please note that the back space key is not functioning so, to go back one letter space simply move the carriage a fraction from right to left.
The retro light grey Oliver Courier would be ideal for beginners who are starting to test their writing skills. This petite typewriter would also be a great writing companion if you are planning to go on a writers retreat. Due to the style and the aesthetics of the typewriter, it can be used for display purposes like home decor and events such as exhibitions and weddings. It appeals to all generations.
