Working 1960 Olympia DeLuxe SM4 Typewriter – New Ribbon, Case – Velvety Grey Colour – Made in Western Germany

London Typewriters are delighted to offer for sale an Olympia DeLuxe SM4 typewriter, made in 1960 and manufactured in Western Germany, specifically for the USA market.

Taking into account its age, this typewriter has retained all its functions; cosmetically it looks neat and has well-preserved chromed details. The solid keys are strong and comfortable giving the typist a stable and sturdy response.

This German made typewriter comes fitted with a new black ribbon and is ready for action. Also comes with the original case which has a comfortable handle.

This almost sixty years old typewriter is in good working order. Minor signs of age and use are present.

The psychological thriller ‘The talented Mr. Ripley’ was based on a series of five novels about Tom Ripley, which were written by the American novelist, Patricia Highsmith. While living in France, she typed the manuscripts on an Olympia typewriter.

The Olympia DeLuxe SM4 would inspire prospective authors to put their ideas on paper, in black and white, rather than staring at an electronic computer screen. The beauty of using a typewriter as your writing tool, is that one immediately sees an idea directly transferred to paper, as it would look in a printed book, making it real and tangible.
