Working 1960s Olympia SM5 Typewriter – New Ribbon, Case, Manual – Cream Colour – Made in Western Germany
Working Olympia SM5 vintage, manual portable typewriter in London (U.K.). After some research on the serial code, I concluded that it was manufactured in the 1960s. Regardless of its age, the machine works very well! The comfortable keys are responsive and comfortable to use when touch typing for long periods of time. The backspace, carriage return lever, the bell, the shift keys, carriage lock, margin setters, ribbon colour switch, the carriage release lever, the paper guide and the paper release lever all work as intended. This German made typewriter is fitted with a new black ribbon so you can begin typing as soon as you get it. Also comes with the original case which has a comfortable handle.
The overall condition is very good. All of the keys work smoothly and the Olympia SM5 functions as expected. Minor signs of use and age are present.
This sturdy and reliable German typewriter would be ideal for writers, authors and journalists. It would also make a wonderful present. Due to the style and the aesthetics of the Olympia SM5 typewriter, it can be used for display purposes like home decor and events such as exhibitions and weddings. It appeals to all generations.
