Working 1970s Olympia SM9 Typewriter – New Ribbon, Case – Special Font – Made in Western Germany

Working Olympia SM9 vintage, manual portable typewriter in London (U.K.).

The typewriter was manufactured in the 1970s, in Western Germany.

The comfortable keys are responsive and provide good feedback to the typist, instilling confidence and resulting in an enjoyable typing experience. All the mechanisms work as intended and the keys function without sticking. At the end of each line, there is an impressive ‘Ding’ sound of the bell.

This Olympia SM9 is designed to type in tables. Also, there is a touch control lever which allows the typist to find a suitable response for personal needs.

We would like to stress that Olympia typewriters were the most manufactured typewriters with various fonts compared to other makes. So, this particular typewriter has a special font, the ‘Care type’, which is distinguished by its clear and neat impression on paper. This font was successfully used for technical and statistical work.

This sturdy typewriter is fitted with a new black ribbon so you can type as soon as you get it, without any inconvenience. Also comes with the original case which has a comfortable handle.

The overall condition is very good. Minor signs of age and use are present.

The retro Olympia SM9 would be a starting point for a typist with little or no experience of using typewriters. It would prove to be a very robust machine for typing long projects and appeals to all generations.
