Working Olympia SM9 vintage, manual portable typewriter in London, UK. After some research on the serial code, I concluded that it was manufactured in the 1970’s. Regardless of its age, the machine works very well! The comfortable keys are responsive and bouncy, and it provides a reassuring feeling of confidence for comfortable typing. The backspace, carriage return lever, the bell, the shift keys, carriage lock, margin setters, the carriage release lever, the paper guide and the paper release lever all work as intended. This German made typewriter is fitted with a new black ribbon so you can begin typing as soon as you get it. Also comes with the original case which has a comfortable handle.
The outstanding feature of this typewriter is the large size of the typeface, which is equivalent to 14 point font size. Based on this fact, the typewriter would be beneficial to typists with sight impairment.
The overall condition is very good and the Olympia SM9 functions as expected. Minor signs of use and age are present.
