Working 1979 WHSMITH Red Fox Typewriter – New Ribbon, Case – Made in Japan
Working WHSMITH Red Fox manual portable typewriter in London (U.K.).
The typewriter was re-branded by the manufacturer from the Silver-Reed into the WHSMITH Red Fox, retaining all its mechanical features, but with a different exterior design.
According to the serial code, the typewriter was manufactured in 1979.
Despite such age, this original red machine works very well! The comfortable keys are responsive and light making typing on it effortless and enjoyable. All the mechanisms work as intended.
This Japanese made typewriter is fitted with a new black ribbon so it is ready for immediate use. Also comes with the case which has a comfortable handle.
The overall condition is very good. The keys type well and do not stick. Minor signs and age of use are present.
Please note that the front of the case has 2 minor cracks (not pictured) which have been repaired and reinforced.
The WHSMITH Red Fox would be ideal for a traveller as it is small in size and light in weight. The typewriter could be a starting point for a typewriter novice. It would also be a unique gift. Due to the style and the aesthetics of the machine, it can be used for display purposes like home decor and events such as exhibitions and weddings.
