Working Early 1920s Remington Portable Typewriter – New Ribbon, Case – Folding Keys – Made In USA
Working Remington Portable vintage, manual typewriter in London (U.K.). After some research on the serial code, I concluded that it was manufactured in the 1920s, in the USA. Regardless of its age, the machine works very well! The comfortable keys are crisp when typing and the whole typing process is enjoyable. The backspace, carriage return lever, the bell, the shift keys, carriage lock, margin setters, ribbon selector (for colour change), the carriage release lever, the paper guide and the paper release lever all work as intended. This USA made typewriter is fitted with a new black ribbon so you can start typing as soon as you get it. Also comes with the original case which has a comfortable handmade handle.
One of the unique features of this typewriter is the folding keys. There is a lever on the side for raising the keys before use and the same lever to return them to a resting position before putting back in its case. Despite the fact the typewriter is nearly a hundred years old, it has retained the glass keys in chrome metal rims, with almost no damage.
The overall condition is very good. The letter keys all type as expected and this Remington functions very well. Please note that there are minor signs of use and age, particularly on the case.
This Remington would be ideal for writers and authors, especially in the creative field. It would also make a unique gift. Due to the style and the aesthetics of this portable typewriter, it can be used for display purposes like home decor and events such as exhibitions and weddings. It would appeal to older generations with some preliminary knowledge about typewriters.
