Working Early 1970s Imperial Signet Portable Typewriter – New Ribbon, Case – Made in Japan
Working Imperial Signet vintage, manual portable typewriter in London (U.K.). After some research on the serial code, I concluded that it was manufactured in the early 1970s. Despite being almost fifty years old, the machine works very well! The comfortable keys are responsive and light to the touch, making typing smooth and easy. The backspace, carriage return lever, the shift keys, carriage lock, margin setters, ribbon colour switch, the carriage release lever, the paper guide and the paper release lever all work as intended. This Japanese made Imperial Signet typewriter is fitted with a new black ribbon so you can type as soon as you get it, without any inconvenience. Also comes with the original case which has a comfortable handle.
The overall condition is good. All of the keys work smoothly and the typewriter types well. Minor signs of age and use are present – please refer to photos.
This typewriter would be ideal for a traveller as it does not take much space. The typewriter would suit any typist with different typing skills. This particular typewriter would make a wonderful gift for any occasion.
