Working Late 1970s Silver Reed 500 Portable Typewriter – Wide Carriage – New Ribbon, Case, Manual – Made In Japan

Working Silver Reed 500 vintage, manual portable typewriter with wider carriage in London (U.K.).

The Silver Reed typewriter was manufactured in the late 1970s, in Japan. Regardless of such old age, the machine works very well!Β  The comfortable keys are light and smooth when typing and the whole typing process is effortless and enjoyable. The backspace, carriage return lever, the bell, the shift keys, carriage lock, margin setters, ribbon selector (for the colour change), the carriage release lever, the paper guide and the paper release lever all work as intended.

This Japanese made typewriter is fitted with a new black ribbon, so you can type as soon as you get it, without any inconvenience. Also it comes with the manual and the original case which has a comfortable handle.

The overall condition is excellent. All of the letter keys type well and the Silver Reed 500 functions as expected. Minor signs of use and age present.

The wide carriage is a valuable feature which allows for typing in landscape format.

The Silver Reed 500 typewriter would be ideal for art and other projects. It would also be ideal for typists with a light touch. It would appeal to all age groups, with or without any previous typing skills.
