Working Rare 1920’s Write Easy (Index) Typewriter – New Ribbon, Case – Made in Brandenburg, Germany
London Typewriters offer for sale a quirky and rather not traditional Write Easy typewriter, which was manufactured in 1920’s, Germany. The machine was designed for the UK market and it was successful at that time.
The principle operating system of this petite and simple typewriter is based on the index pointer which is moved along the horizontal curve and pressed against the required letter, which then triggers the rotating wheel to impress the ribbon against the platen (cylinder). There are two shift and one space keys. In some ways it’s like using a Morse code machine.
The Write Easy typewriter functions and types well. It is equipped with a new black ribbon and is ready for immediate use. The machine is fixed on a wooden base and comes with the original lid.
Please note there are few dents on the front panel of the typewriter. Refer to the photos.
The Write Easy is very small in size and very light in weight.
The typewriter would be a valuable addition to the collection of a connoisseur. It would also be a surprising gift for any occasion.
The Write Easy typewriter is located in London, UK.
