Working Rare Patria Manual Portable Typewriter – New Ribbon, Case
Working rare Patria vintage, manual portable typewriter in London, UK. Patria typewriters originated in the 1930’s, in Switzerland. We have established that the Patria typewriters’ ‘relatives’ were manufactured in other European countries and were well known as the French Japy, British Oliver and others. This Patria typewriter was probably manufactured at the end of 1930’s or 1940’s (based on a limited information online) and designed for Danish speaking typists. This model can also be successfully used by English speakers as there is no difference in the position of the keys, for both languages. The country of manufacture is unknown, but we think it could possibly be Switzerland.
The machine is fantastically preserved considering its age. The chrome rim keys are still like new and work impeccably well. There is very little effort required from the typist to strike the keys as they are easy and responsive. All mechanisms function as intended. This well-made typewriter is fitted with a new black ribbon so you can type as soon as you get it, without any hassle. Also comes with the original case which has a comfortable handle.
The overall condition is excellent. Minor signs of age and use are present.
The typewriter would suit a typist of any profession or age, regardless of typing skills. This is an eye-catching machine and would be a center-piece of any thematic event, wedding or exhibition. Any connoisseur would appreciate such a rare and unique gift for a birthday.
The vintage Patria typewriter is located in London, UK.
