Working Vintage 1960’s Adler Tippa 1 Portable Typewriter – New Ribbon, Case – Grey – Made in Western Germany
Working Adler Tippa 1 vintage, manual portable typewriter in London, UK. After some research on the serial code, I concluded that it was produced in the 1960’s. Regardless of such old age, the Adler machine works very well! The bespoke keys are responsive and smooth and it makes typing flowing. The backspace, carriage return lever, the shift keys, carriage lock, margin setters, ribbon colour switch, the carriage release lever, the paper guide and the paper release lever all work as intended. This West German made typewriter is fitted with a new black ribbon so you can type as soon as you get it, without any hassle. Also comes with the original case which has a comfortable handle.
The overall condition is good. The keys work well and the Adler Tippa types as expected. Minor signs of use and age are present. Please note the case has some cracks at the back.
The Adler Tippa 1 typewriter could be a starting point to younger generations, due to smooth and light typing keys. The typewriter is small in size and light in weight which is convenient if you are planning to travel with Adler Tippa.
