Working Vintage 1970’s Adler Contessa De Luxe Typewriter-New Ribbon, No Case-Orange-Made in Holland
Working vintage Adler Contessa De Luxe manual portable typewriter in London, UK. According to the serial code, I concluded that it was manufactured in the 1970’s. Being almost a fifty years old machine, it works very well! The keys are comfortable and light when typing and it would suit any typist with varying touch. The backspace, carriage return lever, the bell, the shift keys, carriage lock, margin setters, ribbon colour switch, the carriage release lever, the paper guide and the paper release lever all work as intended. This orange typewriter is fitted with a new black ribbon and therefore it is ready for immediate use straight out of the box.
The overall condition is excellent. The letter keys type well and the Adler functions as expected. Minor signs of use and age are present. Please note there is no case.
The English novelist Dame Margaret Drabble wrote novels about her female characters using an Adler Contessa typewriter.
This eye catching machine would be ideal for writers and authors, especially in the creative field. It would also make a unique gift. Due to the style and aesthetics of the Adler Contessa, it would be an attractive decorative piece in home decor and events such as exhibitions and weddings. It appeals to all generations as it is simple to use.
